Welcome

Welcome to MSWA Mid Staffs Woodturners Association website. We hope you enjoy the experience and the site will keep developing over the coming days and months.

Our previous website has served us well over the years and we thank those who have maintained and contributed to the smooth running of the site.

There are still quite a few pages and items to add to the site, so please revisit to see the site progress.

January Competitions

There were two competitions this month, one for the Challenge Trophy and the second for the Premier Trophy.

First, the Challenge Trophy, this was highly competative with 5 entries. The challenge was to make an offset, turned Candle Stick. As you can see the entries were varied and finished to a high standard.

Next Meeting

Our next Club meeting is on Friday 2nd February 2018 at 7:00pm at Etchinghill Village Hall.

Our demonstrator, will be local lad Mike Taylor. Mike is a Pole Lathe Turner from Cannock who some of you may know from local craft fairs and markets in the area. Mike owns his very own small woodland which he manages and maintains with his lovely wife Julie. Together they practice traditional green wood crafts such as Spoon Carving and Woodturning. Mike is coming along to give us a talk about Woodland Management, Coppicing and Pole Lathe Turning. Mike is a traditional "Bodger" and will be bringing one of his home made pole lathes to give us a demonstration. I am certainly looking forwards to Mike's visit and the chance to learn something new.
